Incentives/Assistance for Employers to Hire Persons with Disabilities

Angel Ponce, Senior Community Engagement Liaison, Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities

Ponce currently works as the Senior Customer Service Representative at the City of Houston Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities. In this role, he serves as a translator between legal department attorneys and Spanish-speaking residents. Ponce often works on special projects such as the annual disability emergency readiness “Ready of Not” workshop, the Annual Reel Abilities Art and Film Festival at which he has served as Master of Ceremonies, disability awareness workshops for employers, and disability etiquette and educational presentations for youth and professionals. In partnership with local organizations, Ponce assisted with the ongoing efforts to connect people with disabilities to durable medical equipment and connected those affected to resources in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

Ponce is a co-founder of the National Coalition for Latinxs with Disabilities (CNLD). In his free time, he is an avid adaptive cross-fitter who regularly competes in national competitions.
